Kim's Tears

ree

With its boldness and foresight, Time Lin has set its sights on some of the most controversial leaders on the global political stage.

Here, the focus is on Kim Jong-un: his hands folded in tears, a stark contrast to the prevailing impression of his North Korean regime as a nuclear threat. The artist goes beyond superficial criticism, revealing a deeper reflection through the striking and hopeful Korean phrase "전쟁 반대 (Oppose war)."

This work cleverly incorporates and visualizes the Buddhist wisdom that "everyone possesses Buddha-nature." The artist boldly imagines that if leaders can be touched by their inner compassion, awakening their latent Buddha-nature and thereby caring for the dignity of life, the desire for war might be eliminated. This work is not only an artistic prayer for "reform from evil" but also a universal value of "respect for life." Through symbolic means, Time Lin not only questions the current state of war but also, in a powerful way, awakens the viewer's longing for the potential for peace. This work is a powerful statement about hope, human transformation, and how art can intervene in reality and lead dialogue.
